My year on an information diet

Summer 2016 was a crappy time to read the news. Those of us in the UK were still reeling from Brexit, while US pundits were realising Trump might make it to the White House, despite his idiotic tweets. Elsewhere, the world was going to hell, with terrorist attacks in Nice and Brussels demonstrating how fragile life can be and leaving us all with mild apprehension about visiting public places. It was pretty grim.
